Irish banks were among the strongest performing equities in Europe during the first quarter, significantly outperforming their sectoral peers.

Irish banks were among the strongest performing equities in Europe during the first quarter, significantly outperforming their sectoral peers as well as the broader markets by a wide margin.

Bank of Ireland, Ireland's majority private owned domestic bank, ended the quarter at 15.3 cents per share, a 32 per cent increase in the year to date and more than 25 per cent better than the average for the rest of the European banking sector.
