Three Irish writers can expect to boost their profiles at home and internationally after securing places on the much-coveted Man Booker prize longlist.
Established writers Colm Tóibín and Colum McCann have made the 13-strong list as well as newcomer Donal Ryan, whose debut novel The Spinning Heart, has been included.
Tóibín has been longlisted twice before for The Blackwater Lightship (1999) and The Master (2004).
