Irish Aid has admitted that €120,000 in taxpayers’ funds has disappeared due to fraud in Zambia and Uganda.

The money was given to local civil society organisations working on issues of governance and human rights.

Around €70,000 which was supplied to local groups in Uganda in 2012 has gone missing, as well as another €50,000 of funding which was supplied to groups in Zambia last year.
