The IRFU received a quarter of the £4.8 million (€6 million) surplus from the 2013 British and Irish Lions tour, according to accounts for the Irish-based company behind the team.

The Lions won two of their three games against Australia last year, giving them their first series win since 1997. The tour was controversial for Irish fans after centre Brian O’Driscoll was dropped from the squad before the third and deciding game.
