Ireland’s bailout programme remains on track but the policy environment remains challenging and health overruns remain a concern, the European Commission has said.

“Structurally, the increasingly long term nature of unemployment needs to be addressed," said the EU.

Ireland’s bailout programme remains on track but the policy environment remains challenging, the European Commission has said in its eighth review of the EU-IMF financial assistance programme.

All fiscal targets have been met and progress on financial sector reform continues apace, said the review, the broad contents of which had been widely reported last week, ahead of its publication today.
