Negotiations to form Germany's next government, a grand coalition between the conservative Christian Democrat (CDU/CSU) and the Social Democrats, the SPD, continue. As always, whichever parties are involved, this is a game of preaching to the converted, playing to the audience, making impossible demands, trying to present the other side in the worst possible light, attempting to push through one's own programme, bribing and cajoling until an agreement is reached that fails to make anyone...
