Ireland second after Sweden, Poland for EU attendance

Irish government ministers attended 72 out of 74 EU Council meetings last year, representing an attendance rate of 97 per cent, a new report shows.

Irish government ministers attended 72 out of 74 EU Council meetings last year, representing an attendance rate of 97 per cent, a new report shows.

The European Movement Ireland report said this was an increase of 11 percentage points on 2011 and puts Ireland in second position behind Sweden and Poland for attendance.

Eight out of 10 councils had an Irish attendance rate of 100 per cent with just two, the Foreign Affairs Council and the Economic and Financial Affairs...
