Ireland "a society of distrusters", survey finds

We are a nation of distrusters. More Irish people (59 per cent) trust the European Union than their own national government (18 per cent) to manage the eurozone debt crisis, the 2012 Edelman Trust barometer has found.

We are a nation of distrusters. More Irish people (59 per cent) trust the European Union than their own national government (18 per cent) to manage the eurozone debt crisis, the 2012 Edelman Trust barometer has found.

And less than one in ten of the general public believes a business or government leader will actually tell the truth when confronted with a difficult issue.

The Irish results contrast with Britain and Germany where more people (almost half) trust...
