Starwood Capital, the US property investment firm, has become the latest fund to plot a foray into the Irish residential property market.

The firm's European real estate debt fund, Starwood European Real Estate Finance, is asking shareholders to vote on a number of alterations to its investment mandate, one of which would allow it to acquire Irish residential assets.
