The likelihood for a European Central Bank rate cut in April is the highest it has been for months, according to Citi's European economics team.

A fall in economic sentiment, low inflation and moderate wage growth suggests that the ECB will cut rates in the second quarter, possibly as early as the next governing council meeting this Thursday, according to Citi's chief eurozone economist, Juergen Michels.
