Interest in Co Kildare land drives up values at auction

Crowds attracted by chance to snap up land that rarely changes hands

Two lots of prime farmland sold for a combined €740,000 at a widely attended public auction in Maynooth handled by REA Coonan, as economic recovery and interest in landholdings with equine potential drives up values in north Kildare.

In an executor’s sale, one lot of 39 acres at Ballycahan, Kilcock, fetched €625,000 at the auction, with a solicitor acting on behalf of a client outbidding four other parties.
