The Intelligent Systems Research Centre is carrying out hugely important research which will help doctors deal with various disorders, writes Caroline Allen.

Intelligent robotic systems which could play a major role in helping older people to live independently for longer are the main focus of the work carried out by a progressive research centre in the University of Ulster.

Situated on the university's Magee Campus in Derry, the Intelligent Systems Research Centre (ISRC) is aiming to develop a robot that will be safe and economical enough to deploy in elderly people's homes.
