Insurers won’t quote firms in flood-risk areas

The high risk of flooding in some parts of the country is rendering new businesses uninsurable.

Established firms are under threat because of payouts by insurance companies in recent years.

Hibernian Insurance has undertaken a flood-mapping project to assess the flood risk in some areas, and will not provide quotes for businesses which set up in high-risk places. These areas include some parts of Cork city and Clonmel in Tipperary.
