Insurers to give Revenue details of 50,000 life policy holders

About 50,000 holders of life assurance policies are to receive letters from their insurers warning them that their details are to be handed to the Revenue as part of its tax evasion probe into the financial products.

About 50,000 holders of life assurance policies are to receive letters from their insurers warning them that their details are to be handed to the Revenue as part of its tax evasion probe into the financial products.

The first of the letters are being sent this week. This comes after the Revenue obtained five High Court orders in the last couple of weeks against Irish Life, Hibernian, Ark Life, New Ireland and a smaller insurer.
