Insurers refuse convicted drivers

Many drivers who are convicted in court of a single penalty-point offence will be refused insurance, according to a Sunday Business Post survey.

Many drivers who are convicted in court of a single penalty-point offence will be refused insurance, according to a Sunday Business Post survey.

Allianz, FBD, Hibernian and One Direct said they would refuse to cover new customers who had more than four penalty points.

FBD would refuse to cover new customers who had committed an offence which carried more than three penalty points.
