The Dublin insurance agent jailed for four years for defrauding insurance companies of ���2.3 million received upfront commissions of as much as €317,125 after falsely claiming he had secured customers for pension schemes.

A year ago, Noel Fitzpatrick, from St Gabriel’s, Cabinteely, Dublin was charged with 27 counts of obtaining money by false pretences from New Ireland, Friends First, Canada Life and Anglo Irish Bank between July 2001 and July 2002.
