Insurance complaints up 20%

The number of complaints handled by the insurance ombudsman over the last year increased by almost 20 per cent, according to the ombudsman's annual report, due to be published this month.

The number of complaints handled by the insurance ombudsman over the last year increased by almost 20 per cent, according to the ombudsman's annual report, due to be published this month.

The insurance ombudsman handled 601 formal complaints between January 2004 and April 2005, compared to 506 in 2003. The number of complaints about travel insurance was substantial, according to a financial source.
