The Insomnia coffee shop chain could link up with selected Spar shops, following the arrival of entrepreneur John Clohisey as a shareholder and director of the coffee company.

Clohisey, who took an estimated 20 per cent stake in Insomnia when it raised €4 million in August, said the coffee chain would be suited to larger Spar outlets.

However, official talks with Spar's parent BWG Group have yet to commence.
