INMO slates HSE plan to axe 3,200 more staff

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) has described plans to axe at least 3,200 whole-time equivalent posts in the health service in 2013 as unworkable.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) has described plans to axe at least 3,200 whole-time equivalent posts in the health service in 2013 as unworkable.

The news comes just after the INMO published a report showing that Irish hospitals are seriously understaffed and that understaffing is affecting patient care.

Liam Doran, secretary general of the INMO, said almost 5,000 staff had already left the health service in the run-up to pension changes last February. He said...
