Independent News & Media (INM) is fast-tracking a fundamental review of its costs and strategy, after concerns were raised by its bankers about how seriously it was taking its financial challenges.

The banks are insisting on framing the terms of reference of the reviews, and want them to be more than a "box-ticking" exercise.
