IN&M made €4m in loans to Tribune Newspapers last year

Tribune Newspapers, the publisher of the Sunday Tribune newspaper, received €4million in loans from Independent News & Media (IN&M) last year.

IN&M, which publishes the rival Sunday Independent and Sunday World newspapers, has a 29.99 per cent stake in Tribune Newspapers. It has made loans of €12.4 million to the company since 2002, according to recently filed accounts.

As security for the loans, which bear annual interest of 4 per cent, IN&M has a charge over the Tribune’s title, trademark and intellectual property. The companies have other close links - Tribune Newspapers paid IN&M €3.7 million...
