The chairman of Independent News and Media, Leslie Buckley, has criticised media commentary on INM's bank debt relief efforts.

“A front page article in today’s Irish Times entitled ‘Unease in Government over INM debt-relief moves’ is sorely lacking in context,” said Buckley.

“INM is an operationally strong and well managed company yet its survival is threatened by a legacy of excessive borrowings and poor decisions including destructive share buy-backs...
