The new Indian ambassador to Ireland, PS Raghavan, hopes to build on ‘‘woefully inadequate’’ links between the two countries during his three-year term of office here.

The experienced diplomat - who served as joint secretary dealing with foreign affairs, defence and national security in the Indian government from 2000 to 2004 - has been active since his official appointment on December 11.
