Last week, in The Apprentice finale, Simon Ambrose, the 27-year-old millionaire’s son regularly characterised as ‘‘bumbling’’ by the critics, clinched the winning spot ahead of hot favourite, Wicklow-born single mother Kristina Grimes.

Even Alan Sugar sounded surprised when announcing Ambrose as the winner of the six-figure job.
