In the spotlight: Lily Allen

Liam Gallagher and Damon Albarn can officially retire from the ring: there’s a new knives-out fight in town, courtesy of pop chanteuse Lily Allen and Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole, nee Tweedy.

Although the pair have been feuding for months, events came to a head last week when Allen posted a blog on her MySpace site in which she said she felt ‘‘fat and ugly’’ and was considering gastric bypass surgery and liposuction.
