Travellers have warmly welcomed the recent news that aviation authorities in Europe and the United States are to relax rules on the use of electronic gadgets on board flights. The ban on making calls and sending texts from smartphones will remain.

The new guidelines allow passengers to read ebooks, play games, and watch videos on their devices during all phases of flight, including take-off and landing, as long as they are in airplane mode.
