A damaging coalition row over Labour minister Joan Burton's plans to force employers to cover sick leave costs is set to be reignited by an IMF report supporting the plan.

Burton's budget proposal last year provoked a stand-off between the government parties, but was shelved under pressure from Fine Gael TDs. The compromise deal between the parties saw child benefit cuts taken off the table at the behest of Labour.
