IAG airline cuts 4,500 Spanish jobs

International Airlines Group, the owner of British Airways led by Irishman Wille Walsh, is to shed 4,500 jobs at its Spanish unit Iberia.

International Airlines Group, the owner of British Airways led by Irishman Wille Walsh, is to shed 4,500 jobs at its Spanish unit Iberia after its third quarter profit tumbled by 25 per cent.

Iberia's fleet is to be cut by 25 aircraft to reduce capacity.

Operationg profit at IAG fell to €263 million in the third quarter from €351 million from the same period last year.
