As a nation, we are still not ready to embrace apartment living for families with young children.

Back in 2012, I wrote a piece entitled What Buyers Want. In it, I catalogued the house-hunting endeavours of first-time buyers and families trading up in the Dublin area.

Invariably, these people were looking for a traditional three to four-bed semi-detached house with a south-facing garden. There were bonus points for finding the elusive corner site or full-height attic. Why? Because these held potential.
