Plans to build hundreds of new homes in two Dublin suburbs have emerged after a property company agreed multimillion deals to buy two huge tranches of development land.

The firm, Regency, has agreed to pay more than €30 million for a 24-acre site close to the M50 at Scholarstown Road in Rathfarnham, according to property sources.

Michael Whelan’s Maplewood Homes had previously secured planning permission for 337 houses, apartments and a creche on the site,...
