Hume Street beds going to Cuban hospitals

Beds and medical equipment from Hume Street hospital in Dublin, which is closing down at the end of the month, are to be sent to Cuba.

A container, which is due to be delivered to the hospital on Thursday, will be filled with old hospital beds, out-of-date dressings and equipment which is not needed at the hospital’s new location in St Vincent’s University Hospital in Merrion Road, Dublin.

Hume St re et hospital handled inpatients until 2004, and still has 31 beds which are no longer used.
