Just two of the 39 posts that have been advertised since the Minister for Health, Dr James Reilly, slashed the salaries of new entrant consultants have been filled.

The Health Service Executive (HSE) has been forced to extend the deadline for applications for a number of the posts due to the low level of interest from suitable candidates. There have been no applicants for some posts.
