The Health Service Executive (HSE) has launched an investigation after uncovering evidence that unapproved ambulance operators received hundreds of thousands of euro in payments. The HSE is probing the awarding of contracts worth between €350,000 and €450,000 to two unapproved private ambulance operators last year.
The HSE has confirmed that an internal audit of payments is ongoing. The investigation is focusing on contracts awarded by Monaghan General Hospital in the first half of last year.
