Private homeowners who organise a wedding in their house or grounds will be forced to admit members of the public, whether they are on the guest list or not.

Under new rules for marriages, which are due to come into force tomorrow week, venues other than register offices may be used for the celebration of civil marriages, with the prior approval of the Health Service Executive.
