The Health Service Executive (HSE) turned down requests for more than €11 million in price increases from nearly 100 medical suppliers last year.
The suppliers, including medical equipment and general service providers, had already received a letter from HSE chief executive Brendan Drumm telling them that the executive would be holding a tough line on cost increases during 2009.
