The Health Service Executive has reversed a pact with trade unions that terminated multi-million-euro contracts with private ambulance operators.
The HSE has agreed to honour contracts awarded late last year to three companies for the provision of private ambulance facilities to the health service.
The move came after Lifeline Ambulance Services, the largest private ambulance operator in the country, took a High Court action against the HSE for breach of contract.
