Computer giant HP, which plans to create 500 new jobs in Kildare, is winding up an Irish subsidiary that has assets of almost €1.4 billion.

The company is closing Hewlett-Packard Dublin (Holdings) and a liquidator was appointed to the company in recent weeks. The firm is part of HP’s global financial structure, with assets of €1.35 billion, described as ‘‘unpaid calls’’. It has liabilities of just €480, leaving a significant surplus for distribution....
