The number of Irish people with third level qualifications more than doubled between 1991 and 2011 according to the latest data from the Central Statistics Office.

Here are seven key facts about education:

**1** **Nearly one third of us have third level qualifications:** The proportion of the over-15 population with a third level qualification surged from just 14 per cent in 1991 to **31 per cent by 2011**.
