The savings ratio of Irish households rose to 14.1% last year from 13.4% in 2010, new figures showed.

The savings ratio of Irish households rose to 14.1% last year from 13.4% in 2010, new figures showed.

The ratio expresses savings as a percentage of disposable income. Household savings rose by €637 million to €12.87 billion last year, according to new figures released by the CSO.

The Central Statistics Office said the gross disposable income of households fell to €88.83 billion from €89.18 billion a year earlier.
