Household debt falls to lowest since 2006 - Central Bank

Household debt to disposable income fell to 201.6 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2012, the lowest since 2006, from 203.8 per cent in the previous three months, the Central Bank said.

Household debt to disposable income fell to 201.6 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2012, the lowest since 2006, from 203.8 per cent in the previous three months, the Central Bank said.

Debt declined by €2.9 billion to €173.9 billion or €37,928 per person, the bank said in a statement. Loan repayments accounted for €1.8 billion of the decline, while loan write-downs amounted to €400 million, the bank said.
