While travellers can look forward to lower hotel prices this year, more hotels will go out of business as the economic downturn continues, according to an Irish man who has just become president of the biggest hotel booking firm in the world.

While travellers can look forward to lower hotel prices this year, more hotels will go out of business as the economic downturn continues, according to an Irish man who has just become president of the biggest hotel booking firm in the world.

David Roche, a 39-year-old from Booterstown in Dublin, has been appointed president of Hotels.com, which handles online bookings for about 80,000 hotels around the world.
