Overseas visitors accounted for 14 per cent more bed nights at Irish hotels between January and July, according to Fáilte Ireland figures.
North America produced a rise of 29 per cent in overnights although bookings from visitors from Britain - Ireland's biggest tourist market - dropped three per cent.
Mainland Europe showed a 15 per cent increase while other markets were up 30 per cent.
