The first six months of 2006 have been busy on the hotel property transaction front. The main interest for purchasers so far this year has been in larger, well established, full-service hotels - especially those that operate in well-defined, mature markets and in locations where they are perceived to be the market leaders.

Values have struggled a little for smaller, limited-service properties, particularly in less-than-prime positions, typically those in rural, seasonal regions and peripheral urban locations.
