Hogan signals government will favour incineration

Phil Hogan, the Minister for the Environment, has described the development of large-scale incinerators as ‘‘the only alternative option’’ to the dumping of waste in landfill sites.

Phil Hogan, the Minister for the Environment, has described the development of large-scale incinerators as ‘‘the only alternative option’’ to the dumping of waste in landfill sites.

The comment from the minister’s office is the strongest indication to date that the government will favour incineration as a key part of its new waste policy.
