H&M reports 8% sales lift in 2011

The Swedish fashion chain H&M is planning to open 275 more new outlets in 2012.

Fashion retailer H&M Group said sales in local currencies rose by eight percent during the last financial year amid steady expansion although sales in comparable units decreased by one percent.

Fourth quarter sales were six per cent higher, missing analysts' estimates.

H&M opened 266 new outlets in 2011, mostly in China, the US, Britain and Germany. It would open 275 new shops this year, it said, including its first outlets in Bulgaria, Latvia,...
