Health watchdog Hiqa will launch an inquiry into care provided to all critically ill patients at Galway University Hospital, not just pregnant women or the late Savita Halappanavar.
Hiqa has yet to publish terms of reference for its statutory investigation, but it will also benchmark the care provided against the international evidence of what is known to achieve best outcomes.
