Mention Madeira to your friends and neighbours and you are likely to get one of two responses: wine or flowers.
Fortified Madeira wines have been a mainstay of the economy since the 16th century, and the island is home to thousands of colourful plant species.
There is, however, much more to recommend Madeira as a destination for Irish holidaymakers.
