The chairman of An Bord Pleanala has called on local authorities to make provision for high-rise development in their local area plans.

The chairman of An Bord Pleanala has called on local authorities to make provision for high-rise development in their local area plans.

John O’Connor said that, given the pressure on existing land and rising property prices, high-rise buildings should be considered by local authorities.

‘‘Obviously high-rise is becoming an issue in the planning system now,” he said.
