The High Court has ruled that a Cork solicitor should receive fees before payments to secured creditors in a winding-up.

Barry C Galvin & Son Solicitors had been acting for Tadgh O'Conaill Heating & Plumbing Ltd in debt collection proceedings when the firm went into voluntary liquidation in 2011. The solicitor claimed that fees of €50,000 were outstanding last June.
