High Court refuses to return vehicles

The High Court has refused to return six vehicles to a Northern car dealer after they were seized in Longford for non-payment of Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT).

The High Court has refused to return six vehicles to a Northern car dealer after they were seized in Longford for non-payment of Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT).

The tax is payable on all vehicles imported into the state. The Attorney General sought an order for the condemnation of the six vehicles, five of which were seized at Padraig Keane’s garage in Barrack Street, Granard, Co Longford, in December 2004.
